How To Build an Effective Marketing Funnel
First off, what is a marketing funnel? It’s a strategy used to attract people to your business or product and allow the information you “fill your funnel” with to sift and sort people as they go through the process. The end result is a percentage of people making a connection with you and your business or product and ultimately becoming a customer or business partner.
There are a few fundamentals in creating an effective marketing funnel. First, you must know who you are targeting. Next and most importantly, your job is to create and provide Value-Added Information, resources, tips, tools and references to your targeted audience. You must be able to think like your prospects and look ahead in order to give them what they are looking for. If done well, a marketing funnel can help position you as a leader, allow you to develop a relationship and trust with your prospects and grow your business very systematically. In addition, a successful marketing funnel will help monetize your business as you grow. Thus, if you have done your homework, you will be providing helpful information, tools and resources for your prospects that they are looking for and you will earn income even from the folks who do not ultimately join you in your primary business.
Building a marketing funnel takes some planning, research and really is somewhat of a science. Learning from a mentor or using marketing funnels that have been put together for you are the best ways to get started.

Hi Maureen! Great tips, well more than tips really. A good, solid, sound business plan – what most people online lack – is the key to success. I’d also add TIME to your list of what it takes to build that marketing funnel

Hey Diane,
Yes! you are right….it’s really an ongoing process. It does take time to build your funnel, but you always want to continue to refine it and make it better and more value-added- that’s what it’s all about:-)

Hi Vein,
A marketing funnel is a way to follow up and provide value to your prospects. As people gain insight and exposure to you and what you are doing, some continue through the funnel and ultimately buy from you or join you..depending on what you are involved with.

We were just talking about this in a 2009 planning meeting with a client. We’re being very deliberate this year about keeping the “funnel” full.
